Thanx for the update.

The bugs I encountered so far (I suppose you already know about these):

– Perapera doesn’t enable by itself on startup
– it only works in one tab and you always need to re-enable it in each tab separately

Other than that, my biggest request would be an update of the CEDICT database. The last update was (I believe) exactly 4 years ago, which is a long time considering the editors over at CEDICT have added thousands of new entries and corrections during this time.

works great now as of 43.0.04’s version of firefox
i haven’t used this in a year but glad to see it’s working again

i’m never updating my browser again

Thanks for the comment Tony. Discounting a few bugs, it works fine in Firefox 44 too.

Thanks for the update.

A bug still remains which has existed in previous versions:

When using the “Sepia” theme, the text of the English definitions is white. It is practically impossible to read white text on a sepia background.

Hi Paul,

This has been fixed and will be released in next update.

My firefox version is 43.0.4. I have installed the new signed perapera chinese version. But I the popup dictionary still is not working for me. When I press on the icon, it will show the starting pop-up on the shortcut keys to move through different dictionary n etc. But when I hover my mouse on a chinese word, nothing pop-up.I have tried uninstalling the pop-up and then re-installing it a few times but still couldn’t get it to work. can anyone please help me? really love this dictionary.

I’ve been looking forward to this update for awhile so thank you!
Only hiccup is having to reactivate it on each tab.
Thanks again for this incredible resource.

Hi Nicole,

Thanks for commenting.

Working on that bug. It will be fixed for the next update.

In my, and a lot of other people’s Perapera, this is what happens. I click the greyed-out Perapera icon and it pops up a window stating “Perapera enabled”. The icon stays greyed out and moving the cursor to Chinese characters doesn’t show an annotation. If you would like to remote access my machine and verify the condition, I would help with that.

FF 43.0.4, disabled adblock, ghostery, and privacy badger.

We have seen a few people reporting this. While it seems OK for most users, it does seem to be affecting others. We are looking into it.

Everything works great but the dictionary file : nothing else but the Chinese-English appears, event after downloading other language files.

Francis Campbell January 29, 2016 at 5:11 pm

The French and German dictionary files don’t work at the moment. Sorry for this. We will be looking to fix them once the next update is out.

Tom January 28, 2016 at 12:23 pm

Thank you! Works great in FF 43 and more importantly it’s not been broken by the newest update FF 44!! yay…..

Has your Facebook page disappeared? Couldn’t find it to post the good news

Hi, thanks for you hard work!

Perapera Chinese (and Rikai-sama as well) has stopped working in the last Firefox beta (45.0b1). Is it related to some planned and announced add-on related change (maybe regarding e10s?), therefore you should be able to fix the add-on in a future release, or is that entirely a bug in Firefox, so I would better report it to Mozilla rather than you?

Thank you.

Francis Campbell January 31, 2016 at 7:03 pm

Hi Josi,

Thanks very much for your report. Please send it to us and maybe to Mozilla also.

josi January 31, 2016 at 7:42 pm

Hi, I tried to look into it in more detail, and it seems that my usual profile is just broken, as the add-on works fine in another profile. If that’s the case I should be able to fix it by myself, sorry for disturbing you.

Just for the record, this is the error I’m always getting when clicking on the Perapera Chinese icon:

TypeError: this.getBrowser is not a function cperapera.js:1155:11
exports.ppcMain.toggle() cperapera.js:1155
oncommand() browser.xul:1

My perapera keeps on getting disable by mozilla. Find during install but after few times opening browser it’ll get disable again.

Francis Campbell February 27, 2016 at 2:56 am

This is a bug which we are working on fixing for next update. Thanks for your patience.

Bass February 27, 2016 at 10:35 pm

I came to report that the other language dictionaries not working.

“The French and German dictionary files don’t work at the moment. Sorry for this. We will be looking to fix them once the next update is out.”

Thanks for your hard work, and I hope once it’s fixed it won’t be broken again, this is my primary tool for learning Chinese 🙂

Great program man. Just wondering after I export the words from my Wordlist out, how do I open it in excel? Using Excel’s import text feature leaves the text all jumbled up regardless of what delimiters I use. Thank you.
